Garden and working from home
Working from home needs a door that closes. A separate room at the back of the garden gives you that separation without rebuilding anything indoors.
Why steel rather than timber
A wooden garden house asks for maintenance: staining, replacing rotten parts, adjusting hinges. Powder coated steel panels do not. And if you move later, the unit moves with you — you take it apart and rebuild it at the new address.
At the back of the garden, without a crane
This is usually the sticking point: no crane reaches behind a terraced house. Our units arrive as a flat pack, pass through a normal garden gate and are built in place with bolts and hand tools.
Insulated or not
For a shed or hobby room an uninsulated unit is enough. For a workplace where you sit all day you want the insulated cabin line: insulation in the wall and ceiling panels, a window and a finished floor. Tell us what the room is for and we will pick the line together.
Ground
The unit stands on flat, load-bearing ground — a concrete slab or paving is common. The perimeter steel base frame spreads the weight. We will discuss what works best in your garden when you send your request.
Permits: what applies?
An outbuilding at the back of a garden can be vergunningvrij (permit-free under Dutch building rules) if it meets a set of conditions. Those rules cover where it stands on the plot — behind the front facade of the house —, its height, its distance from the main building, and how much of the plot is already built on. On top of that, an outbuilding may not be used as an independent dwelling; storage, hobby space and a work room are among the permitted uses. Permit-free does not mean rule-free.
